I can't figure out what species of bird this is. It was on the south shore of Turtle Pond. Is it just a strangely marked Rock Pigeon? If you know, please leave a comment.
I wasn't able to get close to this bird, so I'm sorry if the photographs and movies aren't that clear.
After two days, it's clear it's a Rock Pigeon. The behavior confused me, but the white cere should have been the giveaway.
Looks like a Rock Pigeon to me. There are a lot of varieties from domestication.

Not just any rock dove, i think this is a racing pigeon, hence its healthy plump look and outstanding color pattern...and what appears to be a band on the right leg, visible in your third and fourth from the top pictures. Interesting to see it acting like "real bird" instead of a city pigeon picking at bread crumbs!

Looks to me like somebody has lost their pet pigeon. It appears to be a mix of fancy varieties that someone has banded. Conformation is not that of a racing pigeon. Foraging in heavy ground cover tells me it's desperate for food and not experienced at finding it except in the pigeon loft. Pigeons don't normally feed where they are so vulnerable to predation. Looks like an easy meal for Pale Male.
